Mmm Mmm Good!

As promised I am going to post some super simple baby food recipes. Today's recipe is Sweet Potato Puree. This was the first food I introduced to my son and he loved it! Before you start make sure you have everything you need at hand:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • Peeler
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Large pot
  • Food processor or blender
  • Ice cube trays/Baby Cubes (for freezer storage)
Preparation is as follows:

  1. Wash then peel sweet potatoes
  2. Cut into cubes (try to make them all the same size so they will cook at the same speed)
  3. Place cubes into pot with water, boil for 20 minutes or until tender.
  4. Drain, reserving some of the cooking liquid. This will be used in the puree as our liquid, it holds some of the nutrients that were lost during the cooking process.
  5. Transfer puree to food processor and blend until you reach your desired consistency, adding reserved liquid as needed.
  6. Serve immediately or freeze for later use. Don't forget to mark the date made.
That's it! Told you it was simple. This recipe can work for most vegetables. Don't forget to wait 3 -7 days in before you introduce a new food to make sure your little one doesn't have an allergic reaction.
